KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 3, 2019) – New teams sit atop both the men’s and women’s polls as United Soccer Coaches released the latest rankings for NCAA Division I soccer on Tuesday. Wake Forest moved up three spots to grab the top spot in the first men’s regular season ranking of the year, while North Carolina moved up one spot to No. 1 in the second set of women’s rankings.

Wake Forest takes over the top spot in the poll after a pair of wins on opening-weekend. Indiana scored a pair of double overtime wins on opening weekend and remains at No. 2 in the poll. The preseason No. 1 team, Maryland, dropped to No. 3 and were followed by Stanford and Duke to round out the top five.

The women’s rankings see a new No. 1 team as North Carolina jumped into the top spot thanks to a 4-0 start. UCLA moved up two spots into the No. 2 spot also at 4-0. Stanford, USC and Virginia round out the top five in the women’s poll.

United Soccer Coaches college rankings are an indicator of the week-to-week status of qualified programs and in no way should be used as a guide or indicator of eligibility for championship selection. To be eligible for consideration in United Soccer Coaches college rankings, a school must be a member of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program.

The next set of college rankings will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and will also include the first regular season rankings for NCAA Division II and Division III programs.
