KANSAS CITY, Mo. (November 8, 2023) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon, with seven student-athletes representing NCAA Division I, II, III, and NJCAA men’s and women’s soccer.

Joey Batrouni Nikki Coryell

Joey Batrouni made 13 saves on 14 shots on target in regulation and overtime. He also made a save on Syracuse’s first penalty shootout attempt. He played a massive role in earning a draw against Syracuse in the ACC quarterfinals.Nikki Coryell was named MVP of the Missouri Valley Conference after completing a tournament where she posted four clean sheets to lead Valpo to the MVC championship. She tied the MVC career shutout record (27) with a clean sheet against Missouri State and set it outright (28) with clean sheet against Drake. Coryell blanked Missouri State in Thursday’s semifinal and continued on her streak by denying Drake any goals in Sunday’s championship match.

Godwin Asore Elina Seppala

Godwin Asore helped Lewis advance to the GLVC semifinals, after assisting on the team’s second goal at 49:07. He capped off the Flyers win with goal at 86:12, taking four shots with two on goal for the game. Elina Seppala was involved in every Saint Rose score in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over No. 15 Adelphi. She led the top-ranked Golden Knights with two goals and an assist in the triumph.

Kadin Talho Faith Rutherford

Kadin Talho was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling three goals and one assist for seven points to lead the WestConn attack as it captured the 2023 LEC Championship Tournament title. He scored two goals and set up the third in a 3-1 road semifinal victory at second-seeded Keene State before putting home the lone goal of the match in a 1-0 championship final triumph at top-seeded UMass Boston. Talho was named Most Outstanding Player of the conference tournament.Faith Rutherford was named Offensive Player of the Week in the final week of regular season competition for SLIAC. She provided three straight game-winning goals and was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament MVP. Rutherford led the team to its first ever SLIAC tournament final match and championship win/NCAA tournament berth, while surpassing her career high in goals and assists in a season with 11 goals and 11 assists. 

Marvin Gamez

Marvin Gamez scored two goals to help lead ECC to an 8-1 win to complete an unbeaten season in conference play. It was also his fourth multi-goal game of the season.

Each Wednesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
