KANSAS CITY, Mo. (November 15, 2023) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon, with five student-athletes representing NCAA Division I, II, and NJCAA men’s and women’s soccer.

Charlie Sharp

 Charlie Sharp led Western Michigan to a 2-0 record this week, with MVC semifinal wins over NIU 3-1 and #15 Missouri State 2-1. He totaled 4 goals and one assist over the two games, playing a role in all of WMU’s goals over the 2 games. Sharp claimed the program record for the most goals (with 35) in Western Michigan men’s soccer history on Wednesday, after his goal in the 81st minute in the match against NIU. He scored the first and third goals for WMU and assisted in the second goal. On Saturday, Sharp led the Broncos to a 2-1 victory, scoring both goals.

Kieran Brown Katie Spotanski

Kieran Brown played a major role in both Indianapolis victories this past week. He stopped four shots in 110 minutes against Lewis in GLVC Semifinals and saved two shots to help secure the win in penalty kicks. In the GLVC Championship, Brown saved two shots in 110 minutes against UIS and saved two of UIS’s last four misses in penalty kicks. 

Katie Spotanski scored the game-tying goal against Drury that ultimately sent the game to overtime in the GLVC Semifinals and assisted on the game-winning goal in GLVC Championship game against Lewis on Friday. 

Nicholas Baltazar Dillyn Baer

 

Nichola Baltazar played all 180 minutes on defense to help lead the Warriors to two shutout victories in the South Coast Conference Tournament to clinch the tournament title. He dished out one assist in the SCC Final against Mt. SAC.

Dillyn Baer totaled 18 points this week in two victories against East Los Angeles and Compton. She contributed 9 total goals, five coming from the 8-0 victory against East LA and the other four coming from the 7-1 victory against Compton.

Each Wednesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
