KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 19, 2022) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon, with seven student-athletes representing NCAA Division I, II, III, and NJCAA men’s and women’s soccer. 

NCAA Division I Men: Ryan Becher (UMBC)

NCAA Division I Women: Grace Collins (Rice University)

NCAA Division II Men: Luis De La Fuente (Tusculum University)

NCAA Division II Women: Anna Lantz (Rockhurst University)

NCAA Division III MenLeonardo Torres (Marymount University)

NCAA Division III Women: Cassie Nash (Simpson College)

Junior College Men: No nominations received

Junior College Women: Kaley Robison (Dallas College Brookhaven)

Ryan Becher recorded a nine-point weekend with three goals and three assists in a pair of victories. The senior midfielder produced his second consecutive two-goal, two-assist effort in the 4-2 win at Delaware. Becher followed up his performance by adding an assist on Alek Wroblewski’s game-winning goal and added a second-half goal.

Rice midfielder, Grace Collins, scored all three goals in pair of victories for the Owls this week. In a 2-0 win over UTEP, Collins scored the opening two goals en route to her second brace. In a 1-0 shutout at Charlotte, she broke a deadlock in the 57th minute. Her performance helped Rice keep first place in Conference USA with a 7-0 record.

Luis De La Fuente, a senior from Arriondas, Spain, scored four goals over two matches last week to lead the Pioneers to a 1-0-1 record. He scored a hat trick in their 8-0 win over Emory & Henry. De La Fuente then scored the Pioneers’ lone goal in their 1-1 draw with Newberry. He finished the week with eight points.

Anna Lantz, a freshman from Parker, Colorado, tallied four points on two goals in pair of GLVC road wins last week. Lantz gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 20th min versus Illinois Springfield. She then scored the game-winner against Lewis.

Luis De La Fuente freshman from Arriondas, Spain, scored four goals over two matches last week to lead the Pioneers to a 1-0-1 record. He scored a hat trick in their 8-0 win over Emory & Henry. De La Fuente then scored the Pioneers’ lone goal in their 1-1 draw with Newberry. He finished the week with eight points.

Leonardo Torres had a record-breaking week. Torres led Marymount to a pair of wins last week with 15 points on six goals and three assists. In their match against Gallaudet, he scored his first career hat trick and added two assists. The sophomore followed up that performance with another hat trick and one assist in their match-up against Marywood. He became the school’s all-time leader in goals and points in the same game.???

Cassie Nash, a senior from Lincoln, Nebraska, had a massive week. She had a 13-point week on six goals and one assist. In their game versus Luther, she scored all five goals in Simpson’s 5-3 victory. She also had a goal and an assist in the team’s 6-1 win versus Central.

Kaley Robison, a freshman midfielder from Argyle, Texas, had a hand in seven of the 12 goals scored over the week. Robison had one goal and one assist against Cedar Valley, then had a massive contribution with one goal and four assists against Mountain View. Kaley finished the week with nine points.

Each Wednesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
