KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 1, 2021) —United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon, with two student-athletes representing NCAA Division I men’s and women’s soccer.

NCAA Division I Men: Sivert Haugli (Virginia Tech) 
NCAA Division I Women: Mollee Swift (LSU)

Virginia Tech senior CB Sivert Haugli (Oslo, Norway) scored two goals in two minutes for the Hokies against defending champions Marshall, including one from the spot. He enters his third year as a captain of the squad having also won the USL League Two championship with the Des Moines Menace this past summer.

On the women’s side, LSU junior goalkeeper Mollee Swift (Papillion, Neb.) helped the Tigers knock off two top 25 opponents in South Florida and UCF. In the two wins, she conceded only one goal (penalty) and registered six saves. LSU jumped to number 17 in this week’s NCAA Division I rankings with a 4-0-0 record.

Each Wednesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
