Emil Jaaskelainen Skyler Shults

 

Emil Jaaskelainen became the second Division I player this season to score four goals in a match this past week against Le Moyne. All of Jaaskelainen’s goals came in the opening 34:24. Jaaskelainen tallied nine total points in the match up against the Dolphins, collecting his four goals and one assist.Skyler Shults scored her first goal of the season after returning from a season-ending injury a year ago. In the 10th minute, she finished a pass from Megan Garmey to put the Panthers ahead for good. Then, before half, Shults was on the passing end as she hit Meg Roden to take a 2-0 lead just 22 minutes in. The 2-0 win over UNC Asheville secured the Panthers’ Big South Conference Tournament berth.
Arturo Riestra Anna Lantz
Arturo Riestra was named GSC Player of the Week after tallying six points with one goal and four assists in wins over Auburn University Montgomery and Montevallo. Riestra collected two assists in the 2-0 win over #15 AUM and had a goal and two assists in Delta State’s 3-1 win over Montevallo.Anna Lantz tallied eight points on four goals in Rockhurst’s season finale win over Jewell to help secure 7-seed in GLVC Championship Tournament. She scored three goals in a 10-minute span early in first half, and registered her fourth goal from 8-yards out in the 71st minute. Lantz posted six shots with four on goal in 51 minutes of action, earning her fourth career GLVC Offensive Player of the Week Award.
Ryan Lima Svea Eckstrand

Ryan Lima was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week after recording a hat trick in the Beacons’ 4-1 league victory over Eastern Connecticut that clinched the 2023 LEC regular season title and No. 1 seed in next week’s LEC Championship Tournament for UMass Boston. He netted the game-tying goal in the 32nd minute before scoring what proved to be the game-winner three minutes later and tacked on an insurance tally in the 80th minute for his conference-leading 13th goal of the year.Svea Eckstrand excelled in two must-win matches to secure a top 4 seed for the Pride and was named the USA South Conference Player of the Week. She had a goal and two assists against Mary Baldwin and collected two more goals against Salem College.

Charlie Cazares Chloe Green

Charlie Cazares played and started in both wins for the Warriors last week. In the Warriors’ 3-2 road victory over Long Beach City, Cazares dished out two assists.

Chloe Green collected 13 points in three victories for Saddleback College this past week. As the Orange Empire Conference leader in goals (23) and overall points (47), Green collected three goals against No. 10 Cypress College and one additional goal against Santa Ana College.

Each Wednesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
