KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Mar. 16, 2021) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Tuesday afternoon with six student-athletes representing NCAA Divisions I, II, and III.

NCAA Division I Men: Ousmane Sylla (Clemson)
NCAA Division I Women: Avery Snead (Providence)
NCAA Division II Men: Saad Maziane (Young Harris)
NCAA Division II Women: Hannah Kelley-Lusk (West Texas A&M)
NCAA Division III Men: Anders Melton (The University of the South)
NCAA Division III Women: Camille Holzschuh (Westminster)

Clemson freshman midfielder Ousmane Sylla (Dakar, Senegal) made his second collegiate career start after just joining the program in January. Sylla scored the game-winning goal in the 107th minute against No. 21 Virginia Tech in a 1-0 double-overtime thriller against the Hokies. This was the first of his career along with the program’s first top-25 2OT victory since Dec. 1, 2019. Providence freshman midfielder Avery Snead (Wrentham, Mass.) played an important role defensively for the Friars, allowing only five shots on goal with back-to-back shutout victories against Seton Hall and Villanova in 4-0 and 1-0. In the 1-0 victory against the Pirates, Snead scored the game-winner in the 62nd minute for her second game-winning goal of the season.
 
In NCAA Division II, Young Harris College freshman forward Saad Maziane (Casablanca, Morocco) filled the stat sheet with a total of two goals and added three assists in pair games last week. In a 4-0 win over USC Aiken, Maziane scored a goal and two assists. In the second game, he scored the game-winning goal and an assist in a 2-1 win against North Georgia. On the women’s side, West Texas A&M senior forward Hannah Kelley-Lusk (Farmington, N.M.) kicked off a three-game win streak, by scoring seven goals and one assist against UT Tyler, Midwestern State, and Oklahoma Christian.

In NCAA Division III, The University of the South freshman goalkeeper Anders Melton (Baton Rouge, La.) stepped up for the Tigers, coming into the game in the 26th minute of the match and recording six saves in 84 minutes, in the Tigers’ 1-1 2OT draw against Oglethorpe. On the women’s side, Westminster College junior goalkeeper, Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, Ohio) had 11 saves in a 2-1 victory against Washington & Jefferson.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
