The Women’s Coaches Advocacy Group distributes a quarterly newsletter to keep its members up to date on news, deadlines and other association happenings. The newsletter also serves to let members know what the group is working on, highlighting group members and information on how you can get involved. Below is a letter from group chair Haley Carter. Letter from the Chair, Haley Carter

Hello Coaching Friends and Family,

Our Advocacy Council has been hard at work over the last few months, seeking ways to improve the membership experience, celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our colleagues throughout this very difficult year, and identify ways to support each and every one of you on your coaching journey. Many of you have provided feedback to the Council, and our Group specifically, and for that we are incredibly thankful. Collectively, our community has learned so much over the past few months – whether it’s how to plan socially distanced training sessions, survive the financial hardships of this environment, or the importance of connection in a virtual world. Each of you should be proud of the work you’ve done to keep our game beautiful, accessible, and safe.

With respect to United Soccer Coaches, exciting happenings are afoot. We’ve transitioned to a virtual Convention and while that is not ideal, we have the opportunity to engage coaches who otherwise would not have been able to attend Anaheim. We have included a link to register below and we are certain that you will appreciate the line-up for this year’s presenters. The Women’s Group has worked hard to ensure that women coaches, at every level and from every background, get an opportunity to be represented in this year’s presentations.

On that note, it’s also prudent to remind everyone that we are now entering award season for United Soccer Coaches. If you know a coach you believe should be nominated for one of the Association’s Awards of Excellence, please submit your nominations here. Nominations are due October 31st and will be evaluated and awards announced at this year’s Convention.

We’d also like to congratulate all of the women coaches selected to participate in the 2020-2021 30-Under-30 Class. Our leadership team will be reaching out to you soon and we look forward to getting to know each of you and empower you in furthering your relationship with United Soccer Coaches.

Finally, thank you to both Esme and Kaiya for their contributions to this quarter’s newsletter. We are fortunate that both young women are so open and willing to share their stories and experiences in the game. We will continue to share stories of the incredible women in our Group and Association and encourage you to reach out to us if you’d like to contribute.

Wishing you all a safe and successful return to play and look forward to seeing you as we gather online for this year’s Convention! As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Yours in Soccer,

Haley Carter
