KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 7, 2022) – United Soccer Coaches has named former Associate Director of Coaching Education Vince Ganzberg, as the association’s newest Director of Coaching Education.

As the Director of Coaching Education, Ganzberg will oversee the X’s and O’s content, residential and non-residential courses, curriculums for the courses, academy staff, grassroots coaching, partnership education, and new course creation.

“When the Director of Coaching Education position became vacated in early January, I sat back and came up with my list of intangible qualities for the position, said United Soccer Coaches CEO Geoff VanDeusen. “Vince fit all the intangibles: a teacher, “A” license, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, presenter experience, likeability, respected in the soccer community, and a love for the association. Vince brings a wealth of knowledge, a vision, and an incredible passion for coach education.”

In his many years of coaching education, Ganzberg has earned his US Soccer A-License, United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, and National Youth License along with a Master’s Degree in recreation and sports science from Ohio University. He has honed his craft through his tenure as a United Soccer Coaches Education Instructor, US Soccer Coaching Instructor, and Coaching Education Consultant, including creating the first US Soccer “F” License. In 2018, Ganzberg received the US Youth Soccer Dr. Thomas Fleck Excellence in Youth Coaching Education Award.

Ganzberg served many roles with US Youth Soccer, including being the former Indiana State Director of Coaching, which he was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015, and has served as a USYS Regional and National Coach, including previously leading the Midwest Regional Developmental Camp for both the boys and girls. Prior to being named the Director of Coaching for Indiana Soccer, Vince was a high school teacher and coach for 14 years. He is still currently coaching high school soccer. As a player, he was honored by Bethel College (now University) as an inductee into their athletic Hall of Fame.

“I am honored and humbled to lead the association where I got my start as a coach, said United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Vince Ganzberg.” The challenge of continuing to build off what the leaders prior to me is one that I will embrace. I only hope I can do a portion of what they did with as much dignity and class. I am also hopeful that my former mentor and friend, the late Mike Berticelli, is looking down and is proud of the young man he embraced and led down the path of coaching education. I look forward to this challenge and creating an educational platform for coaches of every level to learn and love. I have a lot to learn still but I know that the strength of the association and the coaches and educators within it will be there to help me along this journey.”
