KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 17, 2020) – United Soccer Coaches Foundation announced on Monday that Brian Greene has been selected for the Foundation’s William Holleman Award for Meritorious Service. Greene will be honored at the United Soccer Coaches Foundation Reception on Thursday, Jan. 14 during the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Digital Convention.

Established in 2018, the award recognizes an individual or organization that embodies the mission and vision of United Soccer Coaches Foundation, has demonstrated philanthropy with the Foundation, has paid it forward through the donation of time and/or monetary gifts, and has gone above and beyond to help grow the Foundation’s philanthropic works. The award was renamed in 2020 as the William Holleman Award for Meritorious Service.

“Brian began his service to the association when then President Al Albert asked if any of our members were interested in advising the Foundation Committee on its investments,” said Jeff Vennell, United Soccer Coaches Foundation Committee Chair. “Brian stepped forward and became chair of the investment subcommittee and he has guided the portfolio brilliantly through a difficult investment era, and the recent environment, as the endowment has grown to over $3.1 million.”

A United Soccer Coaches member since 1996, Greene is the Head Boys Soccer Coach at Beachwood High School in Beachwood, Ohio, a position he has held since 1996. He has been a coach at Beachwood since 1989. His team has been awarded the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award every year since its inception. In 2011, he was voted the Greater Cleveland Division II Coach of the Year.
