KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 20, 2020) — There is a new No. 1 team in the NCAA Division I men’s poll, while the top two in the women’s poll remained the same as United Soccer Coaches announced the latest rankings, sponsored by Verizon, on Tuesday. Pittsburgh took over the top spot in the men’s rankings, while North Carolina continues to sit atop the women’s poll.

The Panthers are 4-0-0 on the season as they grabbed the top spot in the men’s top five. Previous No. 1 Wake Forest, dropped to No. 2 after suffering its first loss of the year. Clemson jumped into the poll at No. 3 after their win over the Demon Deacons while Kentucky and North Carolina round out the top five.

On the women’s side, the Tar Heels and Florida State are both 6-0-0 on the year and continue to sit in first and second, respectively. Clemson moved up one spot to No. 3 as did Duke to No. 4 and TCU slipped into the top five, up from sixth a week ago.

Due to the pandemic, only teams competing in the fall are considered for the fall rankings. The number of teams appearing in each ranking is also lower due to the lower number of teams competing. The men’s poll consists of a Top Five national ranking and the women’s poll features a Top 15. There are no regional rankings.
