KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 17, 2020) — United Soccer Coaches released the penultimate Fall College Rankings, sponsored by Verizon, on Tuesday. Pittsburgh is atop the men’s rankings again this week, while Florida State took over the top spot in the women’s poll thanks to their ACC Tournament Championship.

The Panthers are No. 1 in the men’s poll for the fifth straight week ahead of their ACC Tournament Semifinal game this week. Clemson moved up two spots to No. 2, while Wake Forest dropped one spot to No. 3, as did North Carolina to No. 4. Coastal Carolina captured the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title and moved into the top five for the first time.

The Seminoles completed their fall campaign at 11-0-0 after beating North Carolina 3-2 to claim the ACC Tournament crown. The Tar Heels dropped to No. 2 after the loss to FSU. TCU and West Virginia remained in the third and fourth spots, respectively, while Duke climbed back into the top five at No. 5.

Due to the pandemic, only teams competing in the fall are considered for the fall rankings. The number of teams appearing in each ranking is also lower due to the lower number of teams competing. The men’s poll consists of a Top Five national ranking and the women’s poll features a Top 15. There are no regional rankings.
