KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 3, 2019) – Two NCAA Division I student-athletes and one from the Junior College ranks have received United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week honors, the association announced on Tuesday.

USC junior forward Tara McKeown and Florida Gulf Coast senior midfielder Ryan Medilah have been named the United Soccer Coaches Division I Players of the Week, while Herkimer College sophomore Kristin Purcell has been named Junior College Women’s Player of the Week.

McKeown (Newbury Park, Calif.) scored four goals and dished out one assist for nine points as the Trojans went 2-0 last week. She scored two goals in wins over both No. 1 Florida State and Florida, while assisting on the game-winning goal in overtime against FSU. 

Medilah (Paris, France) scored three goals and had one assist for seven points as the Eagles went 1-0-1 on the road last week against a pair of ranked teams. He scored a hat trick and also had an assist in the 4-3 win at No. 24 Michigan. His hat trick was the sixth overall in program history.

Purcell (Sauquoit, N.Y.) scored seven goals and dished out two assists for 16 points as the Generals went 3-0 for the week. She led all goal scorers in the country and two of her goals were game-winners. 

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
