Twenty one new teams enter latest high school rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 22, 2018) – United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) and USA TODAY High School Sports released today the latest regional and national polls in the USA TODAY/United Soccer Coaches rankings for boys and girls high school spring soccer.

Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, S.C., under head coach Shilo Tisdale, continues its stronghold on the top spot in the boys poll with a 28-0-0 record. The Westminster Schools (Atlanta, Ga.) comes in at No. 2 for the third consecutive week with a 22-0-1 mark. Union (Tulsa, Okla.) moved back up to No. 3 this week while Homewood (Homewood, Ala.) and Herriman (West Herriman, Utah) entered the top five for the first time at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

The top two of the girls poll was unchanged with Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City, Mo., led by head coach Matt Darby, atop the rankings for the fifth straight week with a 19-0-0 record. St. Charles North (St. Charles, Ill.) was No. 2 for the fifth straight poll with a 20-0-1 mark. Broomfield (Broomfield, Colo.), Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) and First Colonial (Virginia Beach, Va.) entered the top five for the first time.

In all, 21 new teams joined the top 25 this week, 12 on the girls side and nine in the boys poll. The final spring postseason rankings are scheduled to be released on Tuesday, June 19.
