We are excited to share the recent announcement from the NCAA DIII Championship Committee that the day of rest between the semifinals and finals in the NCAA Division III Men and Women’s Soccer Final Four has been approved.

The Men’s and Women’s Committees will meet the second week of July to determine the tournament format to include the possibility of Thursday/Saturday and Friday/Sunday games for the men’s and women’s championships, respectively. This aims to reduce the length of championship days and stress on host sites. Our request for additional tournament days of rest in the initial rounds will continue to be explored. We will share further updates as information becomes available.

Additionally, the Division III Championships Committee is recommending a collection of budget initiatives, including per diem increases in all sports and the expansion of some brackets and travel parties. The full release can be viewed here.

We are thrilled to learn that our advocacy efforts to support our colleagues in Division III yielded a positive outcome after many years of work. After the NCAA denied our urgent request on November 15th, 2021, we continued to advocate. We have always believed our coaches and student-athletes deserve the same championship experience as our peers in Division I and II. The health and well-being of our student-athletes is a top priority, and this day of rest will ensure time for recovery while allowing coaches ample time to prepare for the national championship game.
