ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Jan. 3, 2025) – Ohio State senior midfielder Michael Adedokun and North Carolina junior forward Kate Faasse were named the winners of the 2024 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, on Friday at the MAC’s annual banquet. Adedokun (Erwua, Nigeria) led the Buckeyes and the Big Ten Conference with 33 points, 11 goals and 11 assists as Ohio State advanced to the College Cup semifinals and Faasse (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Tar Heels with 44 points behind her nation-leading 20 goals and four assists as North Carolina captured its 23rd NCAA National Championship and first national title since 2012. Adedokun, the 2024 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, paced the Buckeyes to a 16-2-4 record. He was named a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America selection. In the 2024 MLS Super Draft, Adedokun was selected in the first round by FC Montreal. Runners-up for the men’s award were University of Denver senior defender Sam Bassett (Littleton, Colo.) and University of Akron graduate forward Emil Jaaskelainen (Bolton, England). Faasse had four goals and three assists during the NCAA Tournament. She netted the game-winner in the quarterfinals and semifinals while dishing out the game-winning assist in the third round while picking up United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America honors. This year’s runners up for the women’s award were Duke University graduate forward Maggie Graham (Atlanta, Ga.) and Wake Forest University junior forward Caiya Hanks (Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i). The MAC Hermann Trophy, a 10-pound crystal soccer ball awarded annually since 1967, honors the United Soccer Coaches National Players of the Year in NCAA Division I men’s and women’s soccer based on voting conducted by member coaches.
