I started coaching in the recreational program at my local club during high school, and in college, I coached U12-U15 teams during my summer breaks. After college, I was given the opportunity to be an assistant for the Women’s team at St. Olaf College. The great experience pushed me to pursue full-time coaching opportunities at both the club and collegiate levels. I am grateful to have worked for clubs that have prioritized player development the past five years, and I am excited to continue to grow as a coach at the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club.

I want to highlight my U14 Boys’ team at Lakeville Soccer Club winning the Minnesota Cup after 8 penalty kicks. Our GK made some awesome saves during the shootout, and the experience showed the growth of the players and their willingness to step up for the team when things got tough. The win helped us qualify for the US Club Regionals that summer.

Also, I am honored to be chosen to be part of the 2020-21 30 Under 30 program with United Soccer Coaches. Through this program, I am looking forward to collaborating with all the quality coaches in this cohort, receiving guidance from a mentor, and continuing to learn and grow as a coach.

My high school coach Jorge Z. showed me the potential positive impact that a coach can have on their players on and off the field. He always brings the very best out of his players without the need to be negative or degrading. I hope someday I can become half the coach he is because I know that if I do, I will have instilled in my players the importance of teamwork and determination, and the recognition that every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Seek mentorship opportunities. I have been pretty lucky to be surrounded by amazing coaches that I can reach out to for advice or just to talk about soccer for hours. You might have to make multiple calls or send many emails, but you will find someone that is willing to help you in your journey!
