KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 2, 2022) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Wednesday afternoon, with eight student-athletes representing NCAA Division I, II, III, and NJCAA men’s and women’s soccer.

NCAA Division I Men: Tim Schels (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)

NCAA Division I Women: Ryan Campbell (Stanford University)

NCAA Division II Men: Ibo Yilmaz (University of Indianapolis)

NCAA Division II Women: Lauren Amerena (College of Saint Rose)

NCAA Division III MenLuis Green (Texas Lutheran University)

NCAA Division III Women: Jenn Rennich (Westfield State University)

Junior College MenAngel Sandoval (Bakersfield College)

Junior College Women: Avery Pieri (Folsom Lake College)

Junior midfielder Tim Schels finished the week with four points. Schels recorded four assists in two games, guiding UNC to a 3-0 win at William & Mary and a 2-2 draw with No. 18 Virginia. Schels helped UNC earn its seventh shutout of the year against the Tribe and kept the Cavaliers shotless during the opening half.

Ryan Campbell led her team to a 2-0-0 weekend. The junior goalkeeper posted two shutouts versus Utah and Colorado. In 157 minutes the junior goalkeeper had six saves and finished off the week with a 1.00 save percentage. The shutout versus Colorado was her Pac-12-best eighth of the year.

Ibo Yilmaz recorded four crucial points for the week. Yilmaz scored two goals in the GLVC Quarterfinals, including a game-tying goal in the 42nd minute and an unassisted game-winner in the 89th minute. The senior forward took six shots with four goals on frame.

Lauren Amerena, a senior from Shoreham by Sea, England, tallied two goals and one assist on Wednesday night to help the Golden Knights cap the regular season with a 5-1 victory at Adelphi. She also recorded an assist in a 3-0 shutout win over SNHU in the NE10 Women’s Soccer Championship quarterfinals.

Luis Green, a graduate forward, finished the week with 13 points. Green scored six goals and one assist in his final two collegiate matches. In the 3-1 win over Dallas, Green scored one goal. He followed that performance with five goals and one assist, setting new TLU records for goals in a match and points.

Jenn Rennich, a graduate forward, had a 12-point week on five goals and two assists. Rennich scored four goals and an assist in the Owls’ 6-1 win over Salem State. Rennich then scored two goals and added one assist in the 5-0 win over Plymouth State.

Angel Sandoval, a sophomore forward, led his team to a 1-0-1 week. Sandoval recorded one goal and two assists. In the 3-3 tie versus Antelope Valley College Sandoval recorded two assists. He followed up that performance by adding a goal in the 3-0 win over College of the Canyons.

Sophomore forward, Avery Pieri, recorded a three-point week. In two matches she helped her team with one goal and one assist. Pieri recorded the game-winning goal against Delta College.
