KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 10, 2019) – Student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions, as well as two representatives from the junior college ranks, have received Player of the Week honors from United Soccer Coaches, the association announced on Tuesday.

NCAA Division I Men: Bar Hazut (UIC)
NCAA Division I Women: Evelyne Viens (South Florida)
NCAA Division II Men: C.J. Couper (Lewis)
NCAA Division II Women: Makayla Toth (Central Missouri)
NCAA Division III Men: Joe Burgos (New Jersey City University)
NCAA Division III Women: Sarah Pasternak (St. Thomas (Minn.))
Junior College Men: Edson Andrade (Whatcom CC)
Junior College Women: Tayler Clark (Herkimer College)

UIC sophomore forward Bar Hazut (Modiin, Israel) scored five goals for 10 points in a pair of wins. He recorded a hat trick in a win over Valparaiso and added two more goals in a win over Western Illinois. South Florida senior forward Evelyne Viens (L’ancienne-Lorette, Quebec) scored five goals, including a program record four goals in a 5-1 win over Rice, and dished out one assist for 11 points.

In NCAA-II, Lewis University freshman goalkeeper C.J. Couper (Rockford, Ill.) recorded eight saves in 197 minutes of shutout action to help the Flyers go 2-0 to start the year. On the women’s side, Central Missouri junior forward Makayla Toth (Wichita, Kan.) scored five goals and dished out two assists for 12 points as UCM opened the season with two wins.

New Jersey City University senior midfielder Joe Burgos (Hackensack, N.J.) took home NCAA Division III men’s honors after scoring four goals and dishing out three assists for NJCU. Burgos had never scored in his career before the week, which included a hat trick and a game-winner against Albright. Sarah Pasternak (Brookfield, Wis.), a junior goalkeeper for St. Thomas (Minn.) recorded 12 saves in a 1-0 double-overtime win at third-ranked Washington (Mo.) to snap the Bears’ 15-match home winning streak.

Junior College Player of the Week honorees went to Edson Andrade (Provo, Utah), freshman forward from Whatcom Community College who had a hand in both goals of a 2-0 win and Herkimer College freshman midfielder Tayler Clark (Poland, N.Y.), who scored two goals and dished out four assists in a pair of victories.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
