KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 24, 2019) – Eight student-athletes representing all three NCAA divisions, as well as two representatives from the junior college ranks, have received Player of the Week honors from United Soccer Coaches, the association announced on Tuesday.

NCAA Division II Men: Adam Whybrow (Quincy)
NCAA Division II Women: Dana Poetzsch (Molloy)
NCAA Division III Men: Dylan Ioffreda (Haverford)
NCAA Division III Women: Riley Cook (Christopher Newport)
Junior College Men: Kristian Colaci Horbunov (Neosho County CC)
Junior College Women: Cariel Ellis (Holmes CC)

James Madison senior midfielder Manuel Ferriol (Valencia, Spain) scored all four goals for JMU this weekend, including the game-winner against No. 1 Wake Forest and a hat trick against Mount St. Mary’s. North Dakota State senior forward Elyse Huber (Sioux City, Iowa) tied a Summit League record scoring all four goals in NDSU’s only game of the week, a 4-2 win over Eastern Washington.

In NCAA Division II, Quincy senior goalkeeper Adam Whybrow (Suffolk, England) registered a pair of shutouts, while making eight saves to lead the Hawks to a pair of GLVC wins. On the women’s side, Dana Poetzsch (Hicksville, N.Y.), junior midfielder for Molloy scored five goals and dished out three assists for 13 points to help her squad to a pair of wins. She recorded a hat trick and two assists for a career-high eight points in the win over Lincoln.

Haverford freshman goalkeeper Dylan Ioffreda (Hershey, Pa.) registered 20 saves and one shutout against a pair of ranked opponents last week. He made 11 saves in the 1-0 win over No. 3 Johns Hopkins and had nine saves in a tie against No. 17 Rowan. Christopher Newport junior forward Riley Cook (Mechanicsville, Pa.) scored all four goals for CNU last week as the Captains picked up a pair of road wins, including a 2-0 win at No. 23 Trinity (Texas).

Kristian Colaci Horbunov (Milan, Italy), a sophomore forward for Neosho County Community College, scored two goals including the game-winner in a 3-1 win at No. 15 Cowley College. Holmes Community College freshman forward Cariel Ellis (Madison, Miss.) scored six goals last week, a pair of hat tricks, as HCC went 2-0.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
