KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 8, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches announced the College Player of the Week awards on Tuesday afternoon with eight student-athletes representing all three NCAA divisions, and two representatives from the junior college ranks, being honored.

NCAA Division I Men: Declan McGlynn (Seattle)
NCAA Division I Women: Lindsey Shira (Eastern Michigan)
NCAA Division II Men: Jonathon Carr (Lake Erie College)
NCAA Division II Women: Erin Hederman (Mississippi College)
NCAA Division III Men: J.P. Baughman (Ohio Wesleyan)
NCAA Division III Women: Taylor Cohen (Washington (Mo.) University)
Junior College Men: Luis Garibay (El Camino College)
Junior College Women: Leah Anderson (East Central CC)

In NCAA Division I, Seattle sophomore forward Declan McGlynn (Kirkland, Wash.) scored four goals last week, including a hat trick and a game-winner in one outing to lead Seattle to a pair of wins. Eastern Michigan junior defender Lindsey Shira (New Baltimore, Mich.) helped the Eagles to a pair of conference wins, scoring three goals from her left back position. She scored the game-winner in both games.

In NCAA Division II, Lake Erie College senior midfielder Jonathon Carr (Sunderland, England) scored three goals and had one assist in a pair of wins last week. He scored both game-winning goals for LEC. On the women’s side, Mississippi College freshman forward Erin Hederman (Jackson, Miss.) scored three goals, including both game-winners, and had one assist in a pair of wins. She had a hand in two of the three goals, including scoring the game-winner, in an upset over fifth-ranked Lee. 

Ohio Wesleyan senior goalkeeper J.P. Baughman (Westerville, Ohio) was a part of two shutouts last week, including a 1-0 win over 10th-ranked John Carroll when he made five saves in the second half and overtime. Taylor Cohen (Pittsburgh, Pa.), a senior forward for Washington (Mo.) University scored five goals and dished out one assist for 11 points. She had a hat trick in the first game of the week, then had two goals, including the game-winner, in a win over No. 18 Rochester.

El Camino College freshman goalkeeper Luis Garibay (Inglewood, Calif.) recorded his second straight shutout in goal and the sixth in eight games this season as El Camino captured a road win at Bakersfield. East Central Community College sophomore forward Leah Anderson (Leyland, England) scored five goals last week for 10 points as ECCC picked up a pair of wins.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
