The Disabilities Allies Coaches Advocacy Group distributes a quarterly newsletter to keep its members up to date on news, deadlines and other association happenings. The newsletter also serves to let members know what the group is working on, highlighting group members and information on how you can get involved. Below is a letter from group chair Kate Ward. To our Coaching Community,

2021 started off with a fantastic week at the United Soccer Coaches Digital Convention. It was such an invigorating and inspiring week for our Advocacy Group (see our recap of the Convention Programming below). We now turn our attention to 2021 and expanding the reach of our our Advocacy Group. Our group will be focusing on moving the curriculum we developed to a United Soccer Coaches Course. In addition to the work on the curriculum, we are planning a week long event to celebrate, highlight, and create more awareness of the diverse abilities in our coaching community and amongst the players we coach. We will also be busy planning for the Convention to be held in Kansas City in January of 2022.

Now that we are a few months into this new year, I hope that it has been off to a good start. Most of us are now back on the field in some way, shape, or form, and I know that there is a renewed sense of gratitude to finally have the chance to be back between the lines and surrounded by people who love the sport.

As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, please continue to take advantage of the resources and support United Soccer Coaches offers all member coaches.

Wishing health and safety to each of you!

Kate Ward
