Cyera Hintzen and Camden Holbrook named Division I Players of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 28, 2018) – University of Texas junior forward Cyera Hintzen and Appalachian State freshman forward Camden Holbrook have been named the United Soccer Coaches Division I Players of the Week for women’s and men’s soccer, the association announced on Tuesday.

Hintzen (Garland, Texas) scored all three goals for the Longhorns last week as they went 1-0-1. She scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie at No. 4 North Carolina and scored both goals, including the game-winner in the first overtime in a 2-1 win over No. 23 UCF. The game-winner was the eighth of her career.

Holbrook (Cary, N.C.) had quite the performance in his first collegiate action, scoring four goals and dishing out an assist for nine points in a pair of App State wins. He recorded the school’s first hat trick since 2009, scoring all three goals, including the game-winner in overtime in a season-opening 3-2 win over Jacksonville. In his second game, he scored the game-winner and later assisted on a goal in a 2-0 win over North Florida.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
