KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 25, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches is pleased to announce Marguerite Ferrell as the new chair of the Youth Coaches Advocacy Group. In her role as chair, Ferrell will build a team of coaches from all levels of the youth game to identify the needs of the membership and to advocate on their behalf. She will also represent youth coaches as a member of the Advocacy Council.
A past member of the United Soccer Coaches Academy Staff and former Senior Manager of Coach Recruitment and Education for New York Red Bulls, Ferrell is c
urrently the Club Development Manager for U.S. Soccer. She oversees a 13-state region in the Northeast working directly with clubs to improve everyday soccer environments for players and to support player development. Previously she worked as a Technical Advisor with U.S. Soccer in the ongoing effort to develop world-class soccer players and coaches in the Northeast.
“It’s an exciting time to chair the Youth Coaches Advocacy Group,” said Ferrell. “This is an opportunity to serve in the best interests of our youth players. I’ve been a huge advocate and educator for United Soccer Coaches and now this is another way to positively enhance the game in this country. I look forward to working with the Youth Coaches Advocacy Group and the United Soccer Coaches Advocacy Council to continue to better the youth soccer environment.”
In addition to her duties with U.S. Soccer, Ferrell has been an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, teaching Coaching Leadership as part of FDU’s graduate Masters of Sport Administration program.

She will be a game-changer as Chair of our Youth Coaches Advocacy Group and will help us assemble a team of coaches that represent all levels of the youth game.”
Ferrell was the Senior Manager of Coach Recruitment and Education for New York Red Bulls for six years. Prior to that, she served as an assistant coach at Seton Hall for Kaz Tambi, former U16 Women’s National Team Coach, from March 2012 through November 2013. From 2006-11, she was an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson, aiding the Knights with all aspects of team management and coaching. In 2009, she was named Coach of the Year by NJ.com.
As a player, she was a First Team All-Northeast Conference player at Fairleigh Dickinson. She was inducted into the FDU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
In addition to being a United Soccer Coaches Academy Staff Coach, Ferrell is a United States Soccer Federation A License Coach and a U.S. Soccer Licensed Education Instructor.
