KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 6, 2023) – United Soccer Coaches in partnership with the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced on Wednesday the women’s finalists for the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy, as the NCAA Division I National Player of the Year. The finalists were determined on voting by the Division I women’s coaches.

The three finalists are University of Nebraska senior forward Eleanor Dale (Billingham, England), Florida State University graduate midfielder Onyi Echegini (London, England) and Brigham Young senior forward Brecken Mozingo (Sandy, Utah).

Dale was the Big 10 Forward of the Year and led the nation with 28 goals and eight game winning goals. She helped the nationally-ranked Cornhuskers to a 17-4-3 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the NCAA tournament. Echegini was the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, leading the Seminoles to an undefeated season at 22-0-1 and their sixth NCAA National Championship, recording 16 goals and five assists along the way. Mozingo was one of the nation’s leaders in total points with 14 goals and 15 assists for the Cougars and was instrumental in BYU returning to the NCAA College Cup and a 20-3-3 record this season.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in college soccer, awarded annually since 1967 for men and 1988 for women. This year’s winner will be announced in a press conference on January 5, 2024, at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by a banquet honoring all this year’s finalists for both women and men.
