The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. Most recently, Duncan McGuire (Creighton) and Michelle Cooper (Duke) received the award for outstanding intercollegiate performances last year.

Highlights from this year’s men’s list include two players who have advanced with their teams to the NCAA Division I Men’s College Cup this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, including Clemson University senior forward Ousmane Sylla from Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago and University of Notre Dame senior goalkeeper Bryan Dowd form Willow Springs, Illinois. Two schools, Marshall University and Southern Methodist University, both had two layers make the elite list.

Three men’s finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 13 after voting by NCAA Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy winner will then be announced at a press conference at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 5, 2024, followed by a dinner to celebrate all of the 2023 finalists.
