Information for College Sports Information Directors

(Updated as of September 3, 2021)

The following information is specifically for college sports information directors. If you have questions not addressed here, please contact media@unitedsoccercoaches.org

**A reminder that you will never see us use an acronym for our name and we ask that you do not use “USC” in reference to our association.**

United Soccer Coaches College Services Registration

In order to qualify for United Soccer Coaches rankings, awards, and other services through the association, a college soccer program must be registered through United Soccer Coaches College Services.

New this year, registration in the College Services Program now includes the head coach’s individual membership as well as the opportunity to register assistant coaches at a discounted rate. To see if your institution is a College Services member, visit the Eligible Institutions Page.

If your school is not yet registered, your coach can do so here.

Note:  The rate for College Services increases on Oct. 1. If a school is not registered as of Oct. 1, the team and players will become ineligible for rankings and awards until the program registers.

United Soccer Coaches College Players of the Week

United Soccer Coaches College Player of the Week program is open for all NCAA and Junior College divisions. Any SID can nominate a player using this online form; nominations will close at 10:15 a.m. CST on Tuesdays and reopen on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. CST. The winners will be announced every Wednesday afternoon during the regular season. Late nominations will not be accepted. Sports Information contacts of the selected players will be contacted prior to the announcement.

This award correlates with the United Soccer Coaches rankings schedule, so the first POW announcement for each division will coincide with that division’s first regular season ranking. The final POW announcement for each respective division will coincide with that division’s final regular season ranking.

Player of the Week FAQs

Do we have to submit one nomination for our conference?
United Soccer Coaches leaves that up to the conferences and their schools as to whether or not one nomination is submitted or if all schools can submit. United Soccer Coaches College Player of the Week nominations are open to any SID who wants to submit and all valid entries will be considered.

Our conference doesn’t select our POW until later. Can we submit after the deadline for consideration?
No. Entries are due Tuesdays by 10 a.m. CT.

Do we include any exhibition game stats?
No. This award is only for the regular season.

United Soccer Coaches Individual & Team Awards

Toward the end of the college soccer season, United Soccer Coaches will be making a variety of announcements honoring the hard work put in by student-athletes, coaches and teams.
