United Soccer Coaches honors seven Players of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (September 12, 2017) – Student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions, as well as a representative from the junior college ranks, have received Player of the Week honors from United Soccer Coaches, the association announced on Tuesday.

NCAA Division I Men: Andres Arcila (Seton Hall)
NCAA Division I Women: Casey Murphy (Rutgers University)
NCAA Division II Men: Carlos Rubio (Ohio Valley University)
NCAA Division II Women: Emily Zwiercan (Kutztown University)
NCAA Division III Men: Christian Restrepo (Suffolk University)
NCAA Division III Women: Rileigh Jo Evitts (Lebanon Valley College)
Junior College Men: Juan Gomez (Schoolcraft College)

Seton Hall senior midfielder Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) and Rutgers University junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy (Bridgewater, New Jersey) were selected from NCAA Division I. Arcila scored three goals and added two assists as he played a part in five of Seton Hall’s six goals in victories over Princeton and Penn. Murphy made 10 saves in back-to-back clean sheets against Georgetown and George Mason.

In NCAA Division II, Ohio Valley University senior goalkeeper Carlos Rubio (Valencia, Spain) and Kutztown University sophomore forward Emily Zwiercan (Reinholds, Pennsylvania) were honored for outstanding performances. Rubio was credited with eight saves as he kept shutouts in three victories and has now started the season with five straight clean sheets. Zwiercan scored five goals, including a hat trick on Saturday, and added an assist for No. 3-ranked Kutztown.

Suffolk University sophomore forward Christian Restrepo (Everett, Massachusetts) and Lebanon Valley College junior forward Rileigh Jo Evitts (Auburn, Pennsylvania) were recognized in NCAA Division III. Restrepo tallied four goals, including a hat trick against Emerson, while Evitts went one better and struck for five goals last Thursday.

At the junior college level, goalkeeper Juan Gomez (Maricaibo, Venezuela) recorded eight saves in two shutout victories for Schoolcraft College to become the lone freshman to earn Player of the Week honors from United Soccer Coaches this week.
