KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Mar. 2, 2021) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Tuesday afternoon with 4 student-athletes representing NCAA Divisions I & II.

NCAA Division I Men: Baba Kallie (Navy)
NCAA Division I Women: Caroline Conti (Clemson)
NCAA Division II Men: Alejandro Chavarria (Mississippi College)
NCAA Division II Women: Tabitha Weldon (West Alabama)

Navy freshman forward Baba Kallie (Coatesville, Pa) came off the bench for the Midshipmen and had a hand in each of Navy’s two goals in its 2-1 comeback win over Colgate. In the 44th minute, Kallie scored the game-tying goal for Navy for his first collegiate goal. Then in the 79th minute, the freshman played a ball near the center of the six-yard box and his pass was deflected in by the Colgate defense for an own goal to seal the Midshipmen’s victory. He finished the game with three shots, which were tied for a game-high.

Clemson sophomore forward Caroline Conti (Greenville, S.C.) had the second multi-goal game of her career and second multi-goal game of the 2020-21 season, scoring a brace in the first match against College of Charleston. Conti took over as the team’s goals and points leader and doubled her fall season point total in the last two games. She also became the second-ranked active Clemson player for career points in just her second year on campus.

In NCAA Division II, Mississippi College senior goalkeeper Alejandro Chavarria (Madrid, Spain) pitched two shutouts as the Choctaws opened 2021 with wins over Christian Brothers and Delta State. He made two saves in the 1-0 win over CBU and three saves in the 2-0 victory over DSU. On the women’s side, West Alabama junior goalkeeper Tabitha Weldon (Orange Park, Fla.) recorded six saves to record a shut out in a 2-0 win against Christian Brothers.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
