KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 22, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches announced its College Player of the Week awards on Tuesday afternoon with seven student-athletes representing all three NCAA divisions, and one representative from the junior college ranks, being honored.

NCAA Division I Men: James Morris (Seattle)
NCAA Division I Women: Grace Yochum (Oklahoma State)
NCAA Division II Men: Pachu Cortazar (McKendree)
NCAA Division II Women: Carley Canzoneri (Columbus State)
NCAA Division III Men: Xander Lefevre (Johns Hopkins)
NCAA Division III Women: Cassandra Robataille (Hartwick)
Junior College Women: Kristen Purcell (Herkimer College)

In NCAA Division I, Seattle freshman forward James Morris (Doncaster, England) recorded his first career hat trick accounting for all three goals in a 3-2 win over CSU Bakersfield. He earned his first career WAC Offensive Player of the Week honor in the process. Oklahoma State sophomore midfielder Grace Yochum (Houston, Texas) scored four of five goals last week in a pair of Cowgirl road victories. She scored the game-winner in both games and notched a hat trick in the win at Iowa State.

In NCAA Division II, McKendree junior goalkeeper Pachu Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay) recorded 11 saves and notched a pair of shutout victories last week for the Bearcats. Columbus State freshman defender Carley Canzoneri (Suwanee, Ga.) scored her first career goal in a win over USC Aiken, but was key on defense as CSU recorded a pair of shutouts including a 1-0 win over Nova Southeastern, the nation’s top-scoring offense.

Xander Lafevre (Glenwood, Md.), a junior goalkeeper for Johns Hopkins, recorded six saves in net, including five second half saves, as JHU shutout third-ranked Franklin & Marshall 1-0 on the road. Hartwick senior goalkeeper Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, N.Y.) had a pair of shutouts last week, recording 12 saves in the process. 

Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, N.Y.), sophomore forward from Herkimer College, had a hand in all five goals for Herkimer last week scoring three goals and dishing out two assists for eight points.

Each Tuesday during the college regular season, United Soccer Coaches selects a men’s and women’s Player of the Week for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and Junior College competition based on nominations from schools and conferences. Nominations are due every Tuesday by 10 a.m. CT to be considered.
