Check-InAll course participants, including commuters, should arrive on Wednesday, January 2nd in time to check-in between 1:00-2:45 pm. Check-in will be at the Sawgrass Grand Hotel in Sawgrass I & II. Candidates should plan departure no earlier than 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 6th.
Travel InformationTransportation to and from the Sawgrass Grand Hotel is the responsibility of each candidate. The area is serviced by the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) - located approximately 15 miles (25 minutes) from the Sawgrass Grand Hotel. Course candidates should plan arrival for Wednesday, Jan. 2nd in time to check-in between 1:00-2:45pm and should plan departure no earlier than 2:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 6th.
Candidates are responsible for their own transportation from the airport to the hotel and for return transportation to the airport upon departure. The hotel does not have a shuttle to/from the airport.
Transportation to the fields will be available for the National and Advanced National Diploma candidates. The fields for the Premier and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas are located on the hotel property.
Pre-Course AssignmentThere is a pre-course assignment associated with attending the Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma. The assignment is to provide a video showing a candidate training/coaching a goalkeeper(s). Additional details on the assignment will be sent to all course candidates in early December.
MealsCandidates are provided 11 meals as a part of the registration fee, including four (4) breakfasts, three (3) lunches and four (4) dinners. Meal service begins with dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 2 and ends with breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 6. Food-service hours for the academy will be announced at the first academy meeting on Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 2). Cost of any additional meals en route to and from Sunrise is the responsibility of each candidate.
Lodging InformationAcademy lodging will be at the Sawgrass Grand Hotel. Rooms will be reserved for all candidates, prior to the course, by United Soccer Coaches based on double occupancy. Requests for roommates will be honored, if possible, but must be requested no later than December 6, 2018. Candidates will need to have a credit card available for the hotel at check-in to cover any other incidental expenses (room service, movies, etc.).
Single RoomsThere are a limited number of single rooms available for the course. Those candidates requesting a single room will be charged an additional $300 to have a single room for the duration of the course. Requests should be e-mailed to Allison Pronske at firstname.lastname@example.org and should be requested no later than December 6, 2018.
What to BringJanuary weather in Sunrise is usually mild. We recommend being prepared for rain and strongly suggest sunscreen and caps. Among other personal items, you should bring a polo/golf shirt, shin guards, a notebook with paper, pens and pencils, practice gear, training suit, rain suit, soccer shoes and flats. You do not need to bring a soccer ball or water bottle as those are provided to candidates on site.
Course SafetyUnited Soccer Coaches reminds course candidates that they must have their own insurance coverage. United Soccer Coaches will not be responsible for medical payment for injuries which occur as a result of participation in the course. United Soccer Coaches also reminds all course candidates to wear shin guards for practical sessions. Coaches participating in practical sessions without wearing shin guards do so at their own risk.
CEU OpportunityCandidates can earn 5 CEU's (continuing education units) through the United States Sports Academy by completing the National, Advanced National, Premier and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas.
