About the Advocacy Council

The role of the Advocacy Council will be to advocate for issues in the game and Association that effect our membership. The Advocacy Council will provide accountability and oversight for the Member Groups. They will advise both the Board of Directors and the professional staff on the needs and the desires of the membership at large.

The Advocacy Council will be composed of representatives from the following: Professional, College Men, College Women, High School Boys, High School Girls, Youth Boys, Youth Girls, Black Coaches, Disabilities Allies, Faith Based Coaches, Latino Coaches, LGBT & Allies, Native American Coaches, Women Coaches and the Advocacy Council Chair. Advocacy Group representatives shall serve a three-year term, with the option to serve a second consecutive term, if approved and agreed upon by the Board of Directors. Requirements to serve again shall be determined by the Advocacy Council and approved by the Board of Directors.

The Advocacy Council shall be led by the Advocacy Council Chair who shall serve as a member on the Board of Directors and as a liaison to the Professional Staff for the Council. The Advocacy Council shall recommend an Advocacy Council Chair to the Board to be approved, who shall serve a three-year term, with the option to serve a second consecutive term, if approved and agreed upon by the Advocacy Council and Board of Directors.

The Advocacy Council and Advocacy Groups will create and expand opportunities for membership to serve on committees, task forces or take other leadership roles within United Soccer Coaches.
